Great news: PE Recent Posts can show now posts from many categories. You don't need to show all posts or choose only one category.

 Now you have a multi-select area where you can pick categories to show posts from. Additionally, there are IDs displayed for each category.

You often asked us about excluding some categories - now the problem is gone because you can select categories that you want to display.
